My friend Shari Goldsmith is a Breast Cancer Survivor. In 2007, her breast cancer was caught during a routine sonogram.
Her mother lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of fifty-two and her aunt (a BRCA carrier) also fought breast cancer but lost her battle to ovarian cancer.
Shari tested negative for the BRCA gene and was sure she had a free pass. In 2007 she was diagnosed. She had a double mastectomy and 5 months of chemo.
During her treatment, she created a 501(3)(c) non- profit organization called The WTFC. One hundred percent of the proceeds are donated to breast cancer researchers all over the country and we spread awareness through our WTFC message of “living for today”!
Please join me and Shari's team "The WTFC" as we support the Susan G Komen “Race for the Cure”. Last year her team raised over $75,000.
This is the 11th year of participation. WTFC has had the largest community team for many years with over 100 walkers.
We WILL create even more survivors when we walk at Central Park on Sunday, September 9, 2018 for the Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure. We will be there to run breast cancer out of town!
The Race is one day a year, but for women and families dealing with breast cancer, the fight is every day. Finding a cure is an ongoing effort.
Year by year, story by story, and dollar by dollar, the efforts of fundraisers save lives. The money we raise delivers food to women in treatment, offers transportation to chemo, and provides screenings. It also helps fund more research, reduce disparities, and find the cures.
Shari needs your support… We all need your support. Please give generously, every dollar counts! Let’s race towards one goal: no one should die from breast cancer.
Join me, and together, we WILL create more survivors!
