On Sunday, September 9th, let's run cancer out of town!
Join my team to walk, jog or run the Komen NYC Race for a Cure 5K in Central Park and raise $5,000 in honor of my brother, Connor!
Last summer, Connor was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer at 29. He is intelligent, industrious, caring, and athletic. In addition to being a successful entrepreneur, he's always on the move: kite-boarding, golfing, running, snowboarding - he does it all. He was the picture of perfect health and his diagnosis completely shocked our family. He fought through months of chemotherapy and an extensive surgery. Connor not only survived but thrived! He received top quality care from experienced Oncologists and Surgeons. His positive attitude through the treatment was inspirational and he was fortunate to have an incredible advocate in his wife who is an MD.
My brother's fight affected me and brought a lot of things into perspective. In addition, I learned that many of today's cancer treatments are incredibly harsh with lasting side effects for survivors. Cancer is really a catch-all for thousands of unique diseases that require highly specific treatment regimens. Every person is unique and many types of cancer do not have standard treatment. There is so much opportunity for new and improved diagnostic tools and treatment through research.
Please join me in fundraising to forward the scientific research that will produce life saving and life changing cancer treatments.
Together, we WILL create more survivors and thrivors!
